Ohio saw 1,031,059 crashes from 2020 to 2024. While accidents happen, fatalities don’t have to. Gregory Highway’s safety solutions help protect lives on the road. Road Traffic Safety by the Numbers

From 2020 to 2025, Cuyahoga County led Ohio in traffic incidents with 139,482 crashes, followed closely by Hamilton County with 139,171 and Franklin County with 114,589. While these populous counties naturally see higher traffic volumes, smaller counties also recorded significant crash numbers—Lucas County reported 61,426, Summit County saw 66,953, and Montgomery County experienced 59,239. The peak year for crashes was 2021, with 269,679 collisions, making it not only the most accident-prone year but also the deadliest, with 1,244 fatal crashes.

Beyond sheer numbers, driver behavior remains a critical factor. Between 2020 and 2024, Ohio saw 50,899 crashes involving distracted drivers and 50,339 alcohol-related collisions. Speeding also played a major role, contributing to 146,870 crashes. Timing trends reveal October as the most dangerous month, with 124,262 crashes over the five-year span, while Fridays consistently recorded the highest number of collisions. The riskiest time to be on the road? Late afternoon—most crashes occurred between 3 and 6 PM.

These statistics highlight the urgent need for effective road safety solutions. Addressing driver distractions, impaired driving, and speeding is crucial to reducing collisions and saving lives.

How Gregory Highway Helps Save Lives

Even with the high number of crashes throughout Ohio, there were more crashes that resulted in minor injuries than serious injuries or death. One factor that plays a major role in preventing fatal crashes is properly installed guardrail and end terminal. Gregory Highway manufactures a range of roadside safety products designed to save lives in every scenario. From guardrails and cable systems to end terminals engineered for maximum impact absorption, these solutions provide critical protection for motorists, reducing the severity of crashes and enhancing highway safety in all driving conditions.

Highway Guardrail

Guardrails serve as the first line of defense in highway safety, protecting motorists from hazardous areas such as steep slopes, bodies of water, and roadside obstacles like trees and power lines. Gregory Highway’s W-Beam and Thrie-Beam guardrails are engineered for durability, easy installation, and long service life, meeting AASHTO and ASTM specifications. Manufactured from high-quality steel, made, and melted in the USA, each guardrail undergoes continuous galvanization to ensure a smooth, uniform finish without sharp edges or zinc buildup. Gregory Highway guardrails provide critical protection where it matters most.
