Tensioning
SAFENCE® is the only cable barrier system that maintains cable tension following an impact requiring that only the affected C-posts be replaced. Work crews can then lift the cables and position them in the new C-posts without special equipment. Tensioning specifications assure that SAFENCE® provides safety at all ambient temperatures.
- Before applying tension to the cable, secure cable ends at anchors and with turnbuckles in place.
- Tension the cable to correct specifications by starting in the middle section, and working alternately toward each end anchor (approximately every 400 feet).
- If the length of the rigging screws is not sufficient to reach the correct tensioning force, tighten to half the length of the rigging screw. Then readjust them so all the rigging screws have the correct tensioning force.
